Quality Health Care in a challenge for most people living in Chief Chiwala’s Chiefdom in Masaiti district of the Copperbelt Province Zambia. For many travelling to a nearby Medical Centre or Hospital is simply not an option due to distance, cost or lack of transportation.
We have launched our Open-Air Clinic in the community aimed at providing equitable access to cost-effective, quality healthcare services as close to the family as possible. The open-air clinic provided a vital lifeline for those who may have otherwise gone without
The Open-Air Clinic uses the Health Belief Model to empower community members with needed information about Non-Communicable Diseases and the importance of being compliant with their medication. This helps community participation to accelerate the objective of the Open-Air Clinics.
We have partnered with the Ministry of Health, USAID SAFE, Zambia Centre for Communication Programmes and John Snow Inc to provide medical services such as; HIV/AIDS Voluntary Counselling and Testing, Cervical Cancer Screening, Blood Pressure Check-ups and education, Diabetes Screening and initiation of treatment, when necessary, Eye Screening and Ophthalmology managements.
The clinic provides our team with an opportunity to educate the community about preventative measures they can take to protect their health. We remain committed to improving access to healthcare services, and look forward to continuing our efforts to create thriving and healthy communities.
